I've been a working barista since April 2012, and am excited to pursue a career as a barista. I'm pursuing certification by Counter Culture Coffee, and am developing my own knowledge and skill by scouring the internets for barista blogs, networks, and forums.
I have a prior interest in food justice and community building, so learning about local sourcing is a constant and ongoing project.
Due to some less than ideal circumstances, my partner and I have left our home city of New York (Brooklyn), and are on our way to Philadelphia to start our life together. As such, I'm adjusting my focus from New York farms to Pennsylvanian ones, which feels like another great, if daunting adventure.
I still don't know how little I know about barista-craft, so I'm hoping so pick up keywords and paths into new avenues of exploration by being in a network of professionals and connoisseurs with far more experience than myself.
